‘She writes of the city in a voice that has caught the cadences of the city – its anonymity as well as its relationships, its passions and its mindlessness; without strain she can link angora and pebblecrete, babies and aeroplanes. She can also gain considerable power from giving us an image straight. It is not always comfortable poetry, but it is fluent and strong and has developed strongly over the years.’ Ron Pretty
‘Zen and the Art of Astroturf is a large poetry book, which is a delight to read…Rodden intermingles contemplative and absurd ideas and situations with a deep regard for the environment and the natural world. As the title suggests, a veiled sense of humour runs throughout the poem, which is characteristic of many of Rodden’s poems. Is the book entertaining? Yes!’ Beatriz Copello, Compulsive Reader
‘After reading and then re-reading the pleasurable poems collected within this volume, an immediate impulse—reflecting well upon Rodden’s poetic talent—is to seek out additional work (both poetry and prose) by the author. A taste of these poems delights, and readers will hope there is more material on the horizon.’ Jonah Meyer, US Review of Books
